Volkswagen’s legendary bus which is known by various names such as Kleinbus, Camper, Kombi, Type 2, Bulli and some other names has celebrated its 60th anniversary last October 6, 2007. And to celebrate such momentous event, Europe’s largest automaker has hosted an International VW Bus jamboree in Hanover which was participated by around 3500 Bullis.

A concert by the British cult band “The Who” will also be rocking the event. Prior to the main event, is the historic automobile convoy which was followed by open-air screening of the Little Miss Sunshine movie that features the original Type 2 Bus.

It was in the year 1947 when the first sketch of the VW Kombi was created by Dutch Volkswagen-dealership owner Ben Pon Sr. His sketch showcased a Beetle-based transport vehicle that was later on manufactured at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg. The Type 2 was based on the Beetle which was introduced in 1950 and by 1968 over two million units of the first and second generation Type 2s were sold.
