The VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition

VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition

What so special about special edition cars? What makes this type of car so extraordinary?

As records shows, Volkswagen’s history all throughout these years has presented special edition models that make us say “wow!” What are their reasons on why they create special edition cars? Maybe it has something to do with celebrations - milestones or an extraordinary episode for the company. But I think the best reason for that is so that they would be able to give extra-special value to the customer. Without a doubt, that’s one very exceptional reason, am I right? Of course I am.

The Passat Wolfsburg Edition constantly follows the tradition of supplying value priced special edition models. Details that I’ve gathered tell me that the Wolfsburg edition features a 2.0 Liter, 200-horsepower turbocharged engine with a standard six-speed automatic Triptronic® transmission. Now that’s what you call special!

It comes along with a special badging of the “Wolfsburg Edition” situated at the driver’s seat and on the passenger front’s quarter panels too. From the character pictured to me by its appearance, it also features a 17-inch alloy wheels, four-spoke leather wrapped multi-function steering wheel and the latest VW parts are used to create this vehicle. Plus, you would find other interesting features like a leather wrapped gearshift knob and boot, a 12-way full power adjustable driver seat, a six-disc in-dash CD changer with MP3 capability, heated front seats, a power sunroof, fog lights, heated windshield washer nozzles and the Sirius™ satellite radio.

Now tell me, isn’t that super special or what?

Volkswagen creates model cars to safeguard customers from damaging accidents as well as make sure that the passengers are tranquil throughout their whole riding (or driving experience). The Wolfsburg Edition includes no less than six airbags as well as an array of vehicle control safety features. These features include a four-wheel ABS anti-lock braking system with four-wheel disc brakes and the Brake Assist. The ABS system includes a brake-wiping feature that keeps the brakes clean and dry.

VW creates special edition models to give an extraordinary performance and benefits for the customers, another special reason why Volkswagen has its special place in the industry as one of the best automakers not only in the continent but all around the globe as well!

LG Announces Beetle-inspired MP3 Player

"I’ve always wanted to play the Beatles on a Beetle"

That’s probably one of the worst punch lines I’ve ever come up with, but you can’t help  but think that after Korean Electronics giant LG Electronics gave a preview of their         latest MP3 player, called the &FM37 which was inspired by the Volkswagen Beetle during this year’s Seoul Motor Show.

The Motor Show also featured other collaborations between the Auto and Electronic companies.  So far, the &FM37 gives consumers the choice between 2GB and 4GB  incarnations and can play a lot of audio formats like MP3, OGG and even WMV 9 files.  It’s also a mini movie player with 2.6-inch LCD screen and comes ready with 2 flash games, it’s not yet known if you can add more however. The player also comes in the same colors of the VW New Beetle, Salsa Red, Shadow Blue and Sunflower Yellow.

The big question is whether or not the &FM37 will even be seen outside of Korean shores.  There some speculation that it might just come with a newly purchased New Beetle, but details are still sketchy and the public will just have to wait until the official release date to find out.

The Passat BlueMotion Specifications

The Passat BlueMotion has shocked the world of automobiles when it was first seen by some watchful spies. I got some information and details about the BlueMotion so that you’ll have some idea of what the car is really made of. You’ll be the judge if this VW model has the edge to be a hit in the market in the future. I hope these specifications that I posted can help you in some ways. Well, maybe in more ways than one.

Cleanliness/Eco Friendliness

  • The vehicle’s CO2 emissions have been extensively reduced
  • Matching with its low fuel utilization values is the CO2 discharge decrease of 15 g/km for the sedan and 19 g/km for the Variant.
  • Total emissions of 136 g/km and 137 g/km (Variant) are a demonstration to the ground-breaking potential of the Volkswagen TDI engines. In addition, a particulate filter is integrated in the emissions control system and emission parts as standard gear.
  • Speed

  • Fuel economy and CO2 data are all the more impressive, because the Passat, at a length of 4.77 meters, is among the largest vehicles in its segment.
  • An interesting side benefit: Its aerodynamic refinements and longer gearing have increased its top speed by five km/h. The sedan tops out at 193 km/h, and the Variant reaches 190 km/h.
  • Economical

  • The Passat BlueMotion not only protects the environment and energy resources. It also protects the car owner’s budget. At an average annual driving distance of 15,000 kilometers, fuel costs are just 68 Euros* per month due to the car’s excellent fuel economy.
  • A pleasant side benefit: sedan and Variant have theoretical ranges of about 1,350 on a single tank of fuel! And that translates to just eleven fill ups per year at 15,000 kilometers.
  • Aerodynamic

  • The excellent fuel economy and emission values were achieved by continuous fine tuning of the drivetrain, chassis and car body.
  • An example in the area of aerodynamics: The radiator grille trim was modified, and the underbody was skirted. Modifications have improved air resistance values (cW x A) by 12.2 percent for the sedan (12.5 percent for Variant) to 0.617 and 0.629 (Variant).
  • Lowered

  • Quantities of efficient adjustments were also done to the chassis. A very cautious look at the car exposes that the Passat BlueMotion "stands" to some extent has lower wheel housings than the base version; this was completed for better aerodynamics, and indeed it has been lowered 15 millimeters in front and eight millimeters in the rear. The lowest possible rolling resistance is guaranteed by high-tech tires ("best-in-class energy tires") sized 205/55 R16 91H with tire pressure increased by 0.4 bar in part-load operation.
  • Innovative

  • The 1.9 TDI of the Passat BlueMotion (77 kW / 105 PS at 4,000 rpm) increases a maximum torque of 250 Newton-meter (starting at 1,900 rpm). Its notable fuel efficiency was achieved by a alteration of wide variety of parameters on the four-cylinder, direct injection turbo-diesel engine.
  • A software modification to the engine controller allowed development engineers to lessen unused speed, for example. The TDI’s engine controller also outputs a "gear recommendation" to the "Multifunctional Display Plus". There the driver can convert off which of a total of five advance gears is the ideal gear at any set time.
  • Programs

  • In the summer of 2006 Volkswagen featured its first model under the new BlueMotion tag
  • The Polo BlueMotion Power: 59 kW / 80 PS. Fuel consumption: 3.9 liters diesel per 100 kilometers. CO2 emissions: 102 g/km. But the name BlueMotion doesn’t only imply the name as it is, but the name represents everything about the car.
  • "Blue", the Volkswagen color, fought for the elements to be protected: Water and air. "Motion" symbolizes the phase of forward-looking mobility heading for the future. BlueMotion is advancing to turn into a quality seal those positions for economy without negotiation in fun-driving.

    Little Miss Sunshine Praised VW

Volkswagen and company have something to be proud of as a world-class automaker. Actually, not only in the car industry but also in the movies!

Are you familiar with Little Miss Sunshine? I bet you do, because this film was a hit on the silversceen. Of course VW played a big part on the movie thus making the movie quite a star at the Oscars!

Recently during the Oscar Awards, Volkswagen obtained compliments and earned respect and so as the movie, Little Miss Sunshine won two Oscars during that night of giving out awards. The awards were taken home by the film include Best Supporting Role and Best Original Script. The recent movie has been said to be successful.

On this movie, the Volkswagen bus played a very significant role to the story and to the characters. During the night of the awards, the leading actor Greg Kinnear thanked the engineers of Volkswagen for making a beautiful vehicle way back 1969 and they sure made it to be comfortable and safe. He gave compliments to the Volkswagen bus for giving a marvelous contribution to the movie Little Miss Sunshine.

Perhaps the T2 Volkswagen bus has its universal appeal to the people. Not just like a classic vehicle, Volkswagen is known for its uniqueness, durability and safe security system. Not everyone goes for style and people like Greg Kinnear opts for vehicles with a sense of security and comfort. In these grounds, the Volkswagen differs from any other car that has proven itself through the test of time.

The Volkswagen bus on the movie was a very reliable character. One movie critic from Arizona Daily Star said, “The movie tells bout a dysfunctional family whose lot like the film’s VW bus: It may be clunky, it may not always run right, but everyone will be OK so long as we all get together and push. And one the funniest movies all should watch.”

Even though the VW bus had its awkward moments in the movie, it never caused bad things to the characters that were on the road trip riding on the Volkswagen bus. It proves to everyone that all vital VW parts sure do work efficiently. That’s why the cast of the movie is very thankful in having the VW bus as part of the movie.

As a part of the movie Little Miss Sunshine, Volkswagen is mostly known to be close to the family and it goes wherever the family goes. VW old or new models should be proud of the Volkswagen bus for being a part of the story and accepting compliments for its reliability not only to the movie and to the characters. And this goes true to all VW owners as well!
